Cyclist, 58, dies in hospital after being hit by car in West Dunbartonshire

A 58-year-old cyclist involved in a crash near the Erskine Bridge in West Dunbartonshire has died in hospital.

Allan Smith from Glasgow had been cycling along the A82 at about midday on Sunday when he was struck by a Vauxhall Mokka near the slip road to the bridge.
He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he later died. His relatives have been informed.
The 83-year-old driver of the car was uninjured.
Police Scotland has appealed to drivers who were on the A82 and witnessed the accident to contact them.
Sgt Archie McGuire said: “It’s vital we establish the circumstances of what has happened and I’m appealing to any motorists who were on the A82, either travelling eastbound or westbound, to contact me.
“Also, if you have any dash cam footage, please let us know as this could assist in our investigation.
“Anyone with any information is asked to call road policing officers either at Dumbarton or Campbeltown Police Offices via the non-emergency number 101.”
