Nora Higgins, 88, killed in collision with speeding motorcyclist in Sale

Incident date:
Sat, 23 Jul 2011

Nora Higgins died after a collision with a motorcycle driven by George Healey on Dane Road, Sale.

Police estimate that the motorcyclist, George Healey ‘had not been driving much faster than 35mph along the 30mph road’. He was unable to control his motorcycle when Ms Higgins stepped into the road, hitting her with a glancing blow.

Despite his disregard for the speed limit it seems no charge has been made against him and the outcome of an inquest was ‘accidental death’.
