Radwan Uddin, 9, was riding on the handlebars of his older brother’s bike near their home in east London when Ibrahim Waseem, 23, smashed into them at almost double the speed limit.
Speeding to the point that you lose control on a speed bump, speeding at almost double the speed limit, and driving in this way in a residential area where children are playing – how is this possibly careless driving?! The driver should have been prosecuted for causing death by dangerous driving.
The maximum sentence for causing death by careless driving is 5 years imprisonment, 11 penalty points and an unlimited driving ban. A 12 month ban is the minimum the judge could have imposed. This driver, who has clearly demonstrated their inability to drive responsibly and safely on at least 2 separate occasions, could be driving again in a couple of years.
